Sometimes when life throws in a little plot twist all you can do is cope until you find your bearings and begin again. Bending, not breaking. Trusting God and continuing to try. More often than not, I find myself floundering in the midst of one of these exact "plot twists" and my way of coping has meant changing a lot about how I see the world...like deciding that maybe I should in fact, GO OUT AND SEE SOME OF IT!
I ventured west after my second marriage dramatically fell apart and I needed to breathe. I did more than just breathe in this new space, new adventure...I fell in love. I loved everything about my travels, from the sense of empowerment flying for the first time (completely alone and navigating several crazy airports), to the people watching, the view from my plane window, the sunshine, the clouds, the rise and the descent, the landing and the arrival in a new place. A girl who has been a Pennsylvania native for the majority of her life, I was mystified by the wide open spaces I found in Idaho. On more than one occasion, as I passed through small towns and miles and miles of farmland, it took my breath away. I quickly realized that there is so much more to see and I want to see it. Not only do I want to see it, but I want my kids to see it!!!
There are so many times in life that you put something off because it doesn't seem possible. I sure have. I never ventured far from "home" until now. I birth this idea to see more, do more, be more... alone, with my children, with friends or with family. I love to drive. I love listening to music (often loudly, much to the chagrin of my children). I love seeing the beauty that lies all around us that just happens to grow that way. I love sharing that with my children. I want to see more and show them more. My Ultimate Goal: One Big Cross Country Road Trip. Just me, my family, and my beloved Toyota Prius (okay, maybe I will be driving another fun ride by the time I get to see this through, but I sure do love my Prius), showing the kids that there is more than just the place you call home.
Right now... there are so many adventures that await right outside our door and we've been blessed to find the other half that makes our family whole....literally making us a modern day "Brady Bunch"! After spending some time in the dating world, the stars aligned and brought me to my husband and his 3 daughters. All of our lives changed and every one of us has grown as a person by investing in one another. The chaos and fun that is our home is reminiscent of the home I was raised in and it's mostly pretty amazing...but let's be real- we have kids ranging in age from elementary school to 20 something- it doesn't come without challenges! Being a mom/step-mom is an honor and a privilege no matter how circumstances may change and I can't think of anyone I'd rather explore and adventure with than the loves of my life and the people who have supported and stood by us through some tough times.
Follow us as we explore our bucket list, right here, where I will be blogging and posting pictures and videos. Check out tips on traveling with kids, handy apps we use to keep us on track or entertained, money savers, nutritional chit chat for on the go, and even some fitness tips.
